FREE | Coral Clay Molding Workshop: The Blue Horizon Project

Come to Vizcaya Village on May 21 for a ceramics workshop unlike any other!  

Celebrated artist Lauren Shapiro leads us in an interactive ceramics workshop where you can shape the future—both artistically and environmentally—with your own hands. The creations produced from this workshop will be fired, glazed, and affixed to a monumental, sinking arch sculpture, which time will transform into an artificial reef colonized by corals.  

Shapiro aims to unite artists and audiences by engaging the community in creating ceramics to create this new large public sculpture as part of the Blue Horizon Project. With rising sea levels threatening coral reefs, the project aims to raise awareness about incorporating underwater environments into urban landscapes and promoting environmental sustainability through art and civic engagement.  

The Blue Horizon Project is made possible with support from Anonymous Was a Woman in partnership with The New York Foundation for the Arts, Commissioner, and the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Enjoy the Famrers Market:  Before or after the workshop, enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the Vizcaya Village Farmers Market. Open from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, it's a perfect spot to connect with local farmers and vendors, offering an enriching experience for all ages. 

Accessibility & Inclusion: Vizcaya is committed to accessibility for all attendees. While not all areas of the estate are wheelchair-accessible, this event is located in a fully accessible area with no stairs and ramp availability.

EXPLORE THE MARKET | While you're at Vizcaya Village, take some time to wander the Farmers Market and chat with local farmers and vendors. The market is open from 9am to 2pm every Sunday.

LOCATION | This activity takes place exclusively at Vizcaya Village, the estate’s historic farm village, and does not include access to the east side of the property where the Main House and gardens are located.

To promote inclusion for all, Vizcaya ensures that all community programs, after-hour and weekend events for locals, feature activities that are physically accessible to all visitors. While not all areas of the estate are wheelchair accessible, community programs are purposefully located in areas without stairs or that can be accessed via a ramp.
