"The HillBenders, like so many other bands, have struggled with the pandemic's various negative effects. However, we realized that the 2020 forced hiatus had a lot of positives for us as individuals amongst the difficulties. We used the time to contemplate the wheels of time and where our hearts and minds are. We used it to start and nurture family, grow businesses, enjoy hobbies, and explore other musical avenues.
Despite the time apart, when we came together in January 2021 to discuss schedules and getting back to work, we all knew that we wanted to keep The HillBenders going. We are pleased to announce our first run of summer shows out East in June and a sneak peek at our July dates below. We've got some new songs and musical directions to explore this year. Check out our website or social media for more details to come.
Cheers to our 13th year of all original members and a post-pandemic celebration coming down the road!"

About The Hillbenders:
The HillBender's WhoGrass show is a chronological journey of The Who's legendary catalog through the wood and wire of bluegrass instrumentation.
Framed as a follow-up to The HillBenders 2015 acoustic interpretation of The Who's TOMMY, WhoGrass now gives the audience a career-spanning twist on one of Rock 'n' Roll's greatest bands. From the early hits, all the way through The Who's discography and even a peek into Pete Townshend's solo career, the rolling banjo, intense dobro percussion, and thunderous vocals have even the biggest Who fan pumping their fist and singing along!
The HillBenders formed in April of 2008, and still tours with the original lineup.
The HillBenders took to Performing Arts venues, festivals, and clubs all over the US by storm in 2015 with their critically acclaimed “Tommy: A Bluegrass Opry.” They followed up the Tommy tour with a year of successful dates joining Keller Williams for “PettyGrass.”
2021 will find The HillBenders continuing their firmly established presence as one of the most energetic and engaging progressive acoustic bands with their hit-laden “WhoGrass” show, as well as outstanding original music from their fourth studio album, appropriately and eponymously titled “The HillBenders.”
Regardless of which show The HillBenders present, or a mash up of all of them, they deliver a perfect mix of virtuoso musicianship and rock star vocals. They are one of the few bluegrass groups that recognize their ability to bridge the gap between the common music consumer and the bluegrass genre, selecting material that defies any hillbilly stigmas.
