About the Event
As if this dynamic Jazz Organ trio wasn’t enough, they've added sax player extraordinaire Andrew Gross to the mix, creating a unique and exciting blend of talents that takes their groove to the next level. This trio has been described as “Purveyors of deep grooves, soulful sounds, and toe-tappin' fun.” Come and bring a friend!
Ted Bouras – drums: Although Ted resides in Prescott, he also works regularly in Phoenix and Tucson. Ted is known for his groove and ability to play across many genres, making him a very busy musician. He formed the group, The OrganNauts, in 2022 and has featured many of Phoenix’s favorite groove players. He was mentored by Jay Cummings and received his BA in music from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Charles Anderson – guitar: An Arizona native, Charles is a performer and educator. He started his music education on piano at the age of 5, then added violin and Trombone, before receiving his first guitar at 14. Under the instruction of Dr. Jeff Libman and Mike Kocour, Charles completed his undergraduate degree in Jazz Performance and is now pursuing a Master’s Degree in Jazz Studies at Arizona State University. He spends his time teaching and performing at Phoenix’s jazz venues.
Andrew Gross – sax: A local favorite, jazz saxophonist Andy is an educator with a M.M. in performance. You can find him performing with the Phoenix Symphony as well as jazz and contemporary groups around town. He has recorded three projects of his own and is in demand as a studio musician. Andrew is the Music Director for Young Sounds of Arizona, a youth program comprising two big bands and a small combo, dedicated to developing not only excellent musicianship but also the social skills necessary for success.
David Paonessa – organ: A jazz pianist and educator from Phoenix, David is known for his playful and swinging style, and is firmly rooted in both the blues and bebop traditions. David attended Arizona State University, studying with Nick Manson and Mike Kocour, and graduated with an M.M. in Jazz Studies. David currently teaches at Glendale Community College and performs regularly in the Phoenix area.
