Calling all plant lovers! Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just starting your indoor jungle, this free community Plant Swap is a fun way to trade healthy plants, meet fellow plant enthusiasts, and give your extra greenery a new home.
Bring one healthy plant—or several—and leave with something new for your collection.

• Sunday, August 9, 2026
• Check-In: 1:00 PM
• Plant Swap Begins: 1:15 PM (arrive on time)
• Golden Hill Park: 2590 Golden Hill Dr., San Diego, CA 92102
• Free admission
• All ages welcome
How It Works
• Bring at least one healthy, pest-free plant.
• Check in and place your plants in the swap area.
• Receive a number.
• Participants choose one plant per round.
• Rounds continue until every plant has found a new home.
You Can Also Bring
• Plant cuttings or corms
• Soil or perlite
• Pots and plant stands
• Watering cans
• Propagation supplies
• Other plant-care accessories
Pro Tips
• Inspect your plants carefully for pests before bringing them.
• Label your plants with their name and basic care instructions.
• Bring a box or tote to safely transport your new plants home.
• Arrive by 1:00 PM since the swap begins promptly at 1:15 PM.
• Wear sunscreen and bring water if you’ll be spending time in the park.
Looking for more plant fun? San Diego also hosts free gardening exchanges at several library locations throughout the month where you can swap plants, seeds, fruits, vegetables, flowers, and gardening advice with other local gardeners.
