Christmas Concert at the Godown

We are excited to host a family friendly concert with a sprinkle of Christmas at The Godown, Veembroederhof 100 Amsterdam on Sunday 3 December at 3.00pm. The program will be performed by musicians/friends Soyoko (piano), Erika (flute/drums) and Amanda (violin) and will feature "lichte" classical pieces as well as special arrangements of contemporary songs and Christmas tunes by Japanese composers including Taro Hakase, Miyuki Kanai and Joe Hisaishi.

Entry is free. However donations are welcome from our audience, all of which will go to a Dutch charity organisation - Dierenbescherming (Animal Protection Society) - in honour of our dear animal friends in need. Limited seats are available so make sure you register your spot including any little ones you plan on bringing, so we can cater appropriately.

About the three merry musicians

Soyoko trained as a classical pianist in Tokyo, Japan at the Kunitachi College of Music and in the Czech Republic at the Prague Conservatory. She has given solo and chamber performances including piano concertos and piano trios/quintets as well as accompanied singers and instrumentalists in concerts in Japan and Europe.

Erika is from Kobe, Japan and started on the piano at the tender age of 5, followed by the flute at the age of 12. In the last year, she has ventured into the world of drums and rhythm and fell in love with the Godown drumkit after attending a concert in the summer.

Amanda counts her lucky stars that she had wonderful violin teachers when she first started learning at 4 years old and believes they are the main reasons for her still playing to this day. She has toured with orchestras across Australia, Asia and Europe and also loves getting into chamber music, musical theatre, pop/improv and other forms where possible.

Soyoko, Erika and Amanda love playing together and look forward to sharing their mutual love of music with you, and particularly with the young ones! See you there!
