Free Ceramics Classes for ages 13-18 at SOMArts

Fridays from 4:00-6:00 pm, beginning October 15.

Classes are taught by SFAI City Studios teaching artist Steph Kudisch & all materials will be provided on site.

We will focus on contemporary ceramic sculpture, exploring a multitude of ceramics methods. The curriculum focuses on handbuilding, wheel throwing, and many glazing techniques including dipping, painting and mishima. We will experiment with color layering, pressing objects into clay to create textures, and a variety of clay carving approaches. Each student will delve into functional, figurative and abstracted ceramic styles & will finish the 6 session semester with a portfolio of ceramic works.

In order to keep our community safe, COVID-19 vaccinations (as well as masks) are required to attend all classes.
