TOPIC: "Preventing & Resolving Community Conflicts by Designing a Culturally Sensitive Engagement Process"
"There are ways to create processes that are proactive and culturally appropriate, and that engage various stakeholders in the community," says Dawn. "It is important to design respectful, inclusive dialogue formats and structures." In this talk, learn some best management practices to avoid community conflicts and some recommendations about how to make conflict prevention and resolution more accessible.
Dawn N.S. Chang, Esq. is the Principal of Ku'iwalu, a Native Hawaiian woman-owned small business specializing in facilitating contentious and culturally sensitive issues. Dawn holds a JD, MSW, and BA from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa; sits on the State Land Use Commission; and is an arbitrator with the State Court Annexed Arbitration Program. She is a member of ACCORD3.0, an affiliation of global mediators and facilitators tackling challenging issues.
