Darkroom's Free Artist Development Series is back! Our next topic is Music Distribution
Wednesday March 18th at Darkroom, 336 St Asaph St
7pm doors, talk starts 7:30pm
This session's guest speaker is Chris Close, from Bread and Butter Music Services
OH, AND THERE WILL BE FREE SNACKS!
After navigating the endless sea of writing, production and all other things music creation it’s finally time to release your music to the world. Turns out this process is not as clear cut as you may have imagined, and you might be feeling a bit lost after hearing that you need to sign up with a digital music distributor to get your tunes onto streaming services.
Chris Close is a local musician and the person behind Ōtautahi-based music distro service, Bread and Butter. Chris will share his insights into how to get your music out into the world, including releasing your music onto streaming platforms (e.g. Tidal), direct to consumer channels (e.g. Bandcamp), physical distribution (e.g. making CDs), and a plethora of other things you might have had no idea you had to consider.
Regardless of genre, abililty or experience level, and whatever stage you're at or distro pathway you're headed down, Chris is here to explain the process in this friendly and informal session! Bring your ideas and questions whether you want to pitch to editorial playlists, or get your tunes playlisted on the local SRN radio station, make some DIY cassette tapes, or sell tracks through Bandcamp, we want to give you the info you need to make it happen!
Join us on Wednesday March 18th from 7pm. There will be free snacks! Plus the bar will be open if you want to buy a drink.
These sessions are super informal and a great opportunity to meet other folks in the creative arts community. Keen musicians of all ages and stages level are welcome to come along, but please note under 18s must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian due to this event being held on a licensed premises.
A huge thank you to Feather and Caelin from Darkroom for making this series happen, and of course to River Heights Trust for their generous support in helping us to be able to give a koha to our guest speakers, and buy snacks for our attendees!
