Welcome to the Advent Luncheon!

This year’s theme, “Hope Rekindled: Walking in the Light of Christ,” is inspired by Isaiah 9:2–6 — “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.” In this sacred season of anticipation, we reflect on how God’s light continues to guide our church, our leadership, and our individual lives.

Bethany Baptist Church-Newark is a historic, justice-oriented community located at 275 W. Market Street, in the heart of Newark, NJ. The church traces its origins to 1870, when a group of African Americans established the church on Broad Street in Newark in the building of the Peddie Memorial Baptist Church.

We are a community of people from all walks of life, united by a common heritage. We are teenagers and seasoned saints, parents and teachers, students and business owners--but, most of all, we are family.

It is our desire to create disciple making communities. We do this through reaching people, teaching them to love and serve Jesus, and sending them to reach, teach, and send others.

The Women's Ministry seeks to strengthen awareness and intimate relationships with God, self, and the community. We desire to empower, encourage, and educate each other and create safe spaces for the development of multicultural, inter-generational relationships between all women through prayer, meditation, study, service, programming, and events in Bethany and the surrounding community.

The Vision for the Women’s Ministry at Bethany Baptist Church is to develop a supportive community of women devoted to Christ, through:

* Relationships - creating significant and deepening relationships with one another
* Christ-Centered Focus - providing spiritual encouragement and growth
* Personal Development- creating opportunities and resources for women to discover and use their gifts
* Wide-spread Mission - meeting the needs of each other in all seasons of our lives, and of those in our community.

The Women's Ministry at Bethany Baptist Church meets monthly for their "Soul Sister" sessions. It is an opportunity for women within the church and community, to fellowship, mentor, and connect in a safe, supportive Christ-centered environment. Throughout the year, the group also hosts various activities that encourage and support the personal and spiritual growth of women.
