About this Event

This is a free digital skill training session. By participating in the training, attendees consent to photos and video recordings. Be advised, the LearnBasicTech free laptop giveaway program ended on 7/31/2025.


Learn the Basics of Technology – For Free! Join us for a free, in-person training designed to help learners build essential digital skills. Whether you're just getting started using tech or want to feel more confident with everyday tech, our friendly instructors will guide you step-by-step. Perfect for beginners of all ages!


In this training, you’ll learn how to:

  • Navigate the internet safely and effectively
  • Understand the basics of using smartphones and tablets
  • Identify popular scams
  • Explore the history and evolution of technology
  • Participate in fun, interactive games to reinforce your learning

No experience needed — just bring your curiosity!


There will be 2 classes that will meet on:

August 1, 2026 from 1:00pm - 5:00pm, at Central Library Annex

August 8, 2026 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm, at Central Library Annex


Patrons are required to attend both classes. If a registered participant does not attend the 1st class they will not be able to drop in the 2nd class.

Registration is required to participate. Space is limited.



PARKING

Visitors to the Glendale Central Library receive 3-hour FREE parking across Harvard Street at the Marketplace parking structure with validation at the service desk. Accessible parking is available on any metered space for free with the use of an ADA placard when displayed. This includes parking in Lot 10 (parallel to Brand Blvd behind BevMo). ADA parking spots on the South side of Adult Recreation Center are also available for library patrons.

Day 2 - Internet Basics

Info: The internet basics course will help guide you on your digital skills journey! We will teach you how to understand the technical fundamentals that will allow you to confidently navigate the digital world!


Day 2 - Website Navigation

Info: Learn how to easily navigate the Learn Basic Tech (LBT) website. We'll guide you through finding upcoming in-person classes, online courses, helpful blogs, and valuable resources.
