Hello! My name's Robert and I'm a published writer of short stories and an aspiring novelist. I'm also the organizer of Fredericksburg Writers Community. We're a group focused on reading our creative writing out loud and enjoying the company of other artists and writers in the area. We welcome all kinds of writers and artists who are at every level of experience with their craft. Please come and share whatever you have to share. ?The fun rules:
1. every attendee has to bring something to share. 5 pages maximum.
2. every attendee has to participate in the flash fiction and drawing exercise.
3. please be supportive and respectful of other attendees, but also honest -- if something is not to your tastes, during the comment/critique phase, please say so, instead of positioning your opinion as an objective correction.
4. please not too much business.
The mean rules:
5. do not socially construct writer's block or any other harmful negativities -- we can very much have our successes in common.
6. do not hijack the group to recruit for your journalism-based political struggles -- reading *your own writing* about your politics is, however, permitted, and encouraged, if that's what you would like to share.
7. do not hijack the group to deflect our discussion to your tastes in television shows, movies or other corporate art -- reading *your own writing* about your tastes and aesthetic values is, however, permitted, and encouraged, if that's what you would like to share.
So, please come and share your work with us, and help to build a real community for writers in the Fredericksburg area.
