About this Event
True stories, bad poems, diaries, and teenage artifacts shared live on stage. A hilarious, painfully relatable night of nostalgia and cringe.
Middle school crushes. Bad poems. Journal entries that should have stayed hidden forever.
For one night only, Story District joins forces with Mortified DC for Freaks & Geeks—a live show where adults share the real artifacts of their teenage years on stage. Think diaries, letters, lists, songs, and the deeply embarrassing evidence of who we used to be.
It’s funny, awkward, honest, and painfully relatable in the best way.
Whether you were a theater kid, a band kid, a weird poet, a hopeless romantic, or just deeply uncool in your own special way, this show will feel very familiar.
What This Is
Freaks & Geeks is a live storytelling show built around real teenage artifacts and real personal stories. Story District and Mortified DC bring together performers brave enough to revisit the most chaotic, vulnerable, and unintentionally hilarious parts of adolescence—live in front of an audience.
The result is a night of comedy, nostalgia, and collective secondhand embarrassment.
What to Expect
- Real diaries, letters, lists, songs, and other teenage artifacts shared live
- True stories told by adults looking back on their younger selves
- Big laughs, sharp storytelling, and plenty of “I cannot believe they kept that”
- A room full of people recognizing that growing up was weird for all of us
Who It’s For
This show is for anyone who has ever written a dramatic journal entry, had an all-consuming crush, made truly terrible art with complete confidence, or somehow survived middle school and lived to laugh about it.
Come for the nostalgia. Stay for the relief of realizing you were not the only strange teenager in the room.
