FRANK LONDON’S LOISAIDA FIFE AND DRUM CORPS.
About this Event
Grammy-award winning trumpeter and composer Sir Frank London's Loisaida Fife & Drum Corps celebrates the release of their recording Touzle Your Kurchy (Adhyaropa Records) and America’s 250th anniversary with a concert of re-imagined American Revolutionary and Civil War music.
The ensemble — some of New York’s greatest musicians, bold improvisers who have performed with everyone from Henry Threadgill & Laurie Anderson to McCoy Tyner & The Yeah YeahYeahs — explores the intersections of traditional and contemporary musical practices.
London's Loisaida Fife & Drum Corps reinvigorates18th- and 19th-century American Fife & Drum music with African polyphony, Irish and Scottish dance tunes, and good old American Sun Ra-style group improvisation, transforming this military music into a street party.
Take Loisaida home with you! Albums will be for sale at the event.
