Nirma University | Ahmedabad, GJ
FPGA Forge is a hands-on technical workshop organized by IEEE to introduce participants to the fundamentals of FPGA-based digital system design using Verilog. The workshop focuses on practical learning, where participants will gain experience working with FPGA hardware and implementing real-world digital systems.
Attendees will learn the basics of hardware description languages, FPGA architecture, and hardware interfacing.
During the session, participants will build a smart gate system using an FPGA board, IR sensors, and a servo motor. The FPGA will process the sensor inputs and generate PWM signals to control the servo motor, demonstrating how digital logic can interact with real hardware systems.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have hands-on experience with FPGA programming, digital design concepts, and hardware implementation.
Schedule:
4th April 2026 – 9:30am to 12:30pm
5th April 2026 – 9:30am to 1:30pm
Instructions to the participants:
Participants are required to bring Laptop (mandatory) for running FPGA development tools and programming the board.
Participants must also install the following software on their laptops before attending the workshop:
- · Quartus II (for FPGA design, synthesis, and programming)
- · ModelSim (for simulation and verification of Verilog designs)
Detailed installation tutorials and setup guides will be shared with participants prior to the workshop to ensure that all required software is installed and working properly before the session begins.
