A festive event for extraordinary times.

See bottom of this page for newly-added answers to Frequently Asked Questions.

UPDATED 11/7/2021: As Covid conditions and trends continue to improve, we will no longer require proof of Covid vaccine or negative test to attend the tour. We do, however, hope that you will help us maintain a safe event by following the most up-to-date health & safety guidelines during tour weekend. Masks and social distancing are optional but encouraged.

2021 TOUR DATES/TIMES

Thursday, December 2nd: 5-9 pm

Friday, December 3rd: 5-9 pm

Saturday, December 4th: 5-9 pm

NOTE: There will be no tour on Sunday, December 5th

Celebrate the season with a festive outdoor evening stroll through Historic Fourth Ward, beautifully decorated for the holidays! This self-guided, porch-crawl-style tour will include delicious food and beverage tastings (while they last), seasonal live music, and carriage rides in the most walkable and picturesque Victorian-era heart of the neighborhood. Due to COVID-19, the event is outdoor-only, and capacity is limited.

Hospitality partners offering complimentary on-site tastings include Broken Shed Vodka, Great Wagon Road Distillery, It’s Poppin’ Gourmet Kettle Korn, Muddy River Distillery, Petty Thieves Brewing, Potts Chocolate, Southern Distilling Co., Sea Level (New England Clam Chowder), Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and Woodford Reserve. Hospitality partners offering a complimentary small bite or seasonal beverage at their restaurants include Poplar Tapas, Queen City Grounds and Pizzeria Sapienza. (Additional vendors to come. Follow us on social media (@fourthwardclt) for updates!)

TICKETS: $30-$40

• Day-Specific Tickets ($30) are valid only for Thursday, Friday OR Saturday; they are valid only on the date for which they are issued.

• Weekend Flex Tickets ($40) may be used on the tour date of your choice. Weekend Flex tickets are the perfect option for those who want to secure a ticket early, and decide later which tour day best fits their schedule. (You may only visit each location/tasting once.)

TICKET INSTRUCTIONS: When you arrive at the tour, simply check in at the Ticket Booth at the corner of W. 9th & N. Poplar Streets. Please bring a printed or digital copy of your ticket with you; we will scan your ticket for contact-free check in. You will then receive your guidebook (required for touring) and you will be on your way!

Upon purchasing a ticket, you will receive a confirmation email from Eventbrite. Please check the receipt attached to your confirmation email, to confirm that you have purchased the correct ticket type. The body of the Eventbrite email is confusing!

Tickets are non-refundable: Friends of Fourth Ward is a non-profit, volunteer-powered organization, and the Holiday Sip & Stroll is a fundraising event for the neighborhood and multiple charities, including: Hope Haven, Frontline Foods, Charlotte Symphony, Joedance Film Festival (pediatric cancer research), and Charlotte Green Team; for these reasons, we are unable to issue refunds on ticket purchases. However, if we are forced to cancel the tour due to worsening Covid conditions, we will refund ticket purchases, less ticketing fees. Thank you for understanding!

This event sells out well in advance every year, so buy your tickets early! Tour is rain or shine. The Holiday Sip & Stroll is presented by the Friends of Fourth Ward, with support from Gold Sponsors Allen Tate Center City and Charlotte Center City Partners. Happy Holidays, and we look forward to seeing you!

Health & Safety Protocols

• Masks and social distancing encouraged when not actively eating or drinking, and if/when waiting in line for check-in or tastings.

• Due to ongoing concerns related to Covid-19, the 2021 Holiday Tour will be an outdoor-only, evening, porch-crawl-style stroll through the heart of Historic Fourth Ward, beautifully decorated for the season. Tickets include food and beverage tastings (while they last), carriage rides and seasonal live music. There will be no interior home tours this year, though we hope to offer them in 2022.

NOTE: As Covid conditions evolve, health and safety protocols, event details, vendors or activities may change at any time. You will receive an email from us via Eventbrite if health & safety protocols change.

Parking

Tour-goers are encouraged to use ride share services or light rail to access Center City. The 9th Street light rail stop is .3 miles to our ticket booth at the corner of W. 9th & N. Poplar Streets, or you may choose the 7th Street stop if you would like to shop at The Market at 7th Street before or after the tour. About Historic Fourth Ward and the Friends of Fourth Ward

The historic Fourth Ward in Uptown Charlotte blends restored 100-plus-year-old Victorian homes with luxury condominiums, urban apartments, parks, and businesses. It is the oldest of the handful of designated Historic Districts in the city. This remarkable fusion of old and new is a defining characteristic of one of America’s most unique urban neighborhoods.

Among the vibrant threads in the vivid tapestry of the Fourth Ward is the Friends of Fourth Ward, under which the Fourth Ward Foundation and Fourth Ward Neighborhood Association flourish. These volunteer-driven, non-profit organizations raise funds, promote social activity and equity, and celebrate the diversity of the neighborhood.

Thank you for contacting the Friends of Fourth Ward. We are currently out on site, setting up for, and staffing/running, the Holiday Sip & Stroll event, and are unable to answer your message at this time. We will get back to you as quickly as possible. In the meantime, please read below for Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Holiday Sip & Stroll:

FAQ

My ticket appears to be for the wrong date. Can you check it for me or transfer me?

A: Please open the receipt attached to your Eventbrite confirmation email, or scroll all the way to the bottom of your email to find “Order Confirmation.” Either of these methods will more clearly state the valid dates of your tickets. In 99% of cases, guests have in fact purchased tickets for their desired dates, but the Eventbrite confirmation email is confusing. NOTE: the tour takes place from 5-9 pm Thurs, Fri, and Saturday ONLY.

I have a ticket. Where do I check in?

A: Our Ticket Booth is located at the corner of W. 9th and N. Poplar Streets. Please check in there to receive your guidebook (required for touring). To expedite check-in, please bring a digital or printed copy of your ticket.

I lost my ticket confirmation. Will I be able to check in?

A: No worries! Simply report to the Ticket Booth at W. 9th & N. Poplar Streets, and we will check you in manually via first and last name.

Are the carriages and tastings included in the price of my ticket?

A: Yes, all tour activities are included in the price of your ticket. Please note, however, that carriage rides will be unavailable on Saturday night, due to the big football game at the stadium, as the carriage company cannot access its staging/holding area. We just learned of the cancellation this week. Mountains 2 Coast golf cart rides will operate all 3 nights, however.

Is the tour walkable?

A: The tour is walkable and self-guided. You will receive a tour guidebook with all the info necessary to make the most of the tour, and you can go at your own pace.

Are children allowed?

A: While we do not specifically program activities for children, they are welcome to come. Children who cannot be carried require a ticket.

Are dogs allowed?

A: While we LOVE dogs, many of our participating homes have resident dogs, who will be cooped up for the weekend, watching from windows as strangers invade their yards/spaces. In deference to resident dogs’ stress levels, we ask that you leave your furry friends at home.

Where do I park?

A: Please visit our website at www.fourthwardclt.org for parking info. We recommend ride share services or light rail, to minimize parking issues.
