While bombs tear apart the sky DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid tear up the Spare Room with bass bombs and sonic artillery that serve up nerve-calming barrages compared to the neighborhood conflagrations. Don't have pets to care for or they are drugged at home? Come dance. American democracy is only 61 years old, dating to the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and it looks like the people who still remember those days before democracy are trying to drag us back. So, Anjali and The Kid throw a dance party for the people solidarity style. Genres be damned, Or so says Anjali.
DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid aren't exactly under-the-radar among clubgoers 'round these parts, and there's a good reason for that. The duo—who first formed for a New Year's Eve party 25 years ago—rattle windows with Desi bass, reggaeton, and darkwave chillers like nooooobody else in town." Portland Mercury 12/26/25
"Your Quintessential Portland Bucket List: 50 Things to Do in Town. These are our city's can't-miss activities, whether you've lived here all your life or are just passing through. -Don't Miss Inimitable DJ duo Aniali and the Incredible Kid's "Tropitaal" parties, serving up a high-energy mix of Indian and Latin American sounds." Portland Monthly 10/27/25
"Portland electronic music luminary DJ Anjali" Willamette Week 8/27/24

Few DJs can be said to have changed the sound of their city but that is exactly what DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid have done since they first introduced Portland, Oregon nightclub audiences to the many varied sounds of Global Bass at a rowdy New Year's Eve debut in 2000. They are most known for incinerating dance floors with the heavy dance floor artillery of South Asia, but the duo scour the globe for any hard-hitting music that combines local music traditions with window-rattling production.
In 2002 they founded ANDAZ, a Bhangra and Bollywood party that ran for 18 years and was only stopped by a global pandemic. With DJ E3 they co-founded the Pacific Northwest's first Global Bass dance party (Atlas 2003-2013.) They currently host TROPITAAL! A Desi Latine Soundclash the second Saturday of every month at the Goodfoot (est. 2013).
In addition to hosting their own club nights, Anjali and The Kid have performed at many festivals including Sasquatch!, Decibel, What The Festival?!, MusicfestNW, Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration, Beloved, Matatu Festival of Stories, Photosynthesis, Soul'd Out, Portland International Film Festival, Indian Summer Festival (Vancouver, B.C.), Kaleidoscope and Vancouver Queer Film Festival to name a few. They have guested at parties from NYC (iBomba) to SF (Dhoom) and Chicago (Bhangratheque) as well as numerous appearances at both the legendary Basement Bhangra (NYC) and Non Stop Bhangra (SF.) Anjali has played many Queer Desi parties on the West Coast from BollyQ (Seattle) to Dalit Dreamlands (Oakland) and now hosts Chai & Roses in Portland.
Anjali & The Kid have supported artists as diverse as A Tribe Called Red, Bomba Estéreo, Tigerstyle, Major Lazer, Skrillex, Flying Lotus, Saini Surinder, Digable Planets, Delhi 2 Dublin, Sleigh Bells, Glitch Mob, Dengue Fever, Blockhead, Edna Vazquez, The Decemberists, Pink Martini, Portugal. In 2016 they won Best DJ in Willamette Week's Best of Portland and in 2017 Willamette Week's Best of Portland Readers' Poll.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Kush just celebrated twenty years! The Incredible Kid hosts his weekly radio show on KBOO.FM every Tuesday night (10PM to Midnight.) Archives of Chor Bazaar, their former radio show dedicated to the vintage sounds of South Asia & Latin America can be found on XRAY.FM.
Anjali continues to teach Bhangra & Bollywood weekly at The Viscount Dance Studio. She regularly performs with Gulabi Gang, her troupe of Queer Desi diaspora dancers.
