Studio open to the public for our Fourth Friday Art walk. Peruse the many studios and galleries on this festive evening event. All are welcome. It is always fun to hear what visitors see in this tree drawing. A brain, a bird’s nest.

Upon closer inspection it is a tribute to life…life there on the cliff and all of our lives. A whale, an owl, figures, faces all dwelling beneath the surface of this tree.
It’s a polyptych, or 4 panel, piece in pen and ink mounted on cradled wood. I think I prefer the panels touching or very close. What do you think?
This drawing is modeled after a tree friend in Pismo Beach. The lone Cypress keeps watch over its friends in the sea. So majestic.
Whales breaching in the distance, pelicans flying by seem to salute as they pass.
Confession: I received an email enticing me to come back to the property and it appeared the tree was gone. Did they cut it down? I was going into a minor panic. I called the property to ask. An exasperated employee, puzzled by my inquiry, asked another staff member. “Yes, Maam, the tree is still there.” Sweet relief. Then I will be back to visit my tree friend.
