The "Four Chaplains Ceremony" is an American Legion tradition nationwide. It is an annual service held to commemorate the sacrifices made by four military chaplains on February 2nd, 1943, who gave their lives by giving up their life jackets to save others after the troop transport (The USAT Dorchester) they were on was torpedoed & sank.The American Legion honors their universal sacrifice and example setting annually with a short service and program about the event and the Four Chaplains' dedication to duty as well as the lives of the men in their care.
Light refreshments will be served following the program.
