Join us for an extraordinary evening with the Catskill Symphony Orchestra AND the SUNY Oneonta World Chorus and Friends, celebrating the eternal spirit of music! Experience the magic of three masterworks that capture the wonder, joy, and timeless energy of youth.
🎼 The Evening's Program:
Debussy: A Children's Corner - Six enchanting movements that capture childhood's magical perspective. Originally composed for solo piano, these impressionistic miniatures come alive with Debussy's own masterful orchestration, featuring delicate textures and playful rhythms that paint vivid musical portraits of childhood wonder.
Schubert: Mass in G major, D. 167 - A radiant celebration of the eternal human spirit composed when Schubert was just 19 years old. This luminous work showcases the composer's gift for melody within the sacred tradition, blending Austrian folk-song simplicity with profound spiritual expression that requires both orchestra and chorus in perfect harmony.
Mozart: Symphony No. 29 in A major, K. 201 - Written when Mozart was just 18, embodying youthful genius at its finest. Considered one of Mozart's first truly mature symphonies, this work demonstrates his mastery of classical form while bursting with inventive themes, sophisticated counterpoint, and an irrepressible sense of joy that captures the essence of musical youth.
