About this Event
Most founder events give you a polished story from the stage and then leave you to find someone to talk to. This one is built the other way round.
Three speakers take fifteen minutes each, and then fifteen minutes of questions from the room. The whole evening runs under Chatham House rules, so nothing said is repeated outside the room with a name attached to it. That is the part that matters, because it is what lets someone talk about the decision that went badly, the number that never worked or the hire they regret, instead of the version that has been tidied up for an audience.
Then the room is yours. Doors open at 18:30, the first talk starts at 19:00, and from 21:00 there are two hours of food, drink and conversation until 23:00. By that point everyone has heard the same three talks, so nobody is standing around reaching for an opening line.
Patrick Mercie is travelling from Dublin to speak on the beliefs that hold us back, and what it takes to get past them. He has started companies of his own and now spends most of his time working with founders on exactly this problem.
Richard Heasman is building Cura, a new learning and development platform. He came on the Founder's Voyage podcast last year, and this time he is on stage.
Darren Fooks is flying in from Brisbane. He has started more than five companies in the past decade, raised tens of millions of dollars, and spent more than thirty years in law across corporate transactions, energy, infrastructure and digital assets. He is speaking on choosing the right people to build with, and what it costs when that goes wrong.
You do not need to know anyone to come. Most people arrive on their own. Expect founders, people in the middle of building something, and people still deciding whether to start.
