TOPIC: Patent Playbook: Practical Approaches to Filing and Beyond

This session we welcome Jeffrey Schmidt, Life Sciences Patent Attorney, and Karen Potter, Partner, both of Morrison Foerster, as they dive into the Patent Playbook: Practical Approaches to Filing and Beyond. Together, they will reveal how innovative companies strategically leverage patents and other intellectual property - from the earliest stages of invention through commercialization. The seminar will explore a hypothetical invention to illustrate creative approaches to protecting intellectual property, including patent protection, portfolio building, and competitive positioning. Attendees will gain practical insights into crafting intellectual property strategies that not only safeguard inventions but also enhance business value, while navigating evolving standards on eligibility and obviousness across jurisdictions.
