Foundations of Teaching Artistry 2023

Artists who have a passion for working with the next generation are invited to apply for Foundations of Teaching Artistry™, a three-day workshop for Birmingham-area artists, June 14-16, 2023, 9am-3:30pm all three days. This workshop will provide like-minded teaching artists a time to inspire one another, collect strategies, and create focused and impactful educational residencies for the Birmingham community.

Presenters will review key methods of arts integration as well as an overview of best planning practices to:

• Maximize student engagement
• Minimize hurdles through classroom management
• And maintain effective communication with teachers and schools

Participating teaching artists will workshop unique, valuable, and effective lesson ideas and present their progress to the cohort on the final day. Lunch will be provided, and participants who complete the program will receive a $250 stipend and statement of achievement. Participants must attend the entire program and submit a W-9 to receive a stipend. Sessions will also cover connecting with funders to support your project and networking with other local resources for support.

Presenters include Kerri-Noelle Humphrey, Jahman Ariel Hill, Deanna Sirkot, Kimberly Green, Ginger Swan Lindsey, and Dr. Terrence Brown.

Join us as we work to transform classrooms through joy and creativity! Past participants are invited to join us again. Space is limited and applications must be received by MAY 8, 2023. Participants will be notified the week of May 15 via email.
