Foundations of Photography - Analog in the Digital Age with Brad Jacobson

Film photography is not dead. In fact, it's thriving.

A growing number of photographers who didn't grow up with film are discovering the rewards (and the frustrations) of shooting analog. Whether you're curious about picking up your first film camera or you already own one and want to sharpen your workflow, this class is for you.

Join Brad Jacobson, the official Demo Day photographer, for a one-session workshop in the museum's Bugatti Room on the morning of November's Demo Day. From 10:30 to 11:30 AM, we'll cover the fundamental differences between analog and digital, walk through the basic operations of typical film cameras, and explore how a photographer in 2026 can shoot film, digital, or both with a practical, integrated workflow.

After class, you'll experience a Simeone Museum Demo Day and then head outside to experience "Yankee Iron!" where cars from the museum's collection are displayed and demonstrated on the museum's 3.5-acre tarmac. Demo Day admission is included free with your enrollment.

Brad Jacobson has been the official Demo Day photographer for over two years and has been shooting at the museum for over ten. He originally took this very course under the tutelage of the late Andrew Taylor, the museum's previous official photographer, who taught and sold out this class on multiple occasions. Brad now carries that tradition forward, bringing a decade of hands-on experience photographing one of the world's great collections of racing cars.
