Workshop DescriptionNeurofeedback, or EEG biofeedback, is a non-invasive brain training method that uses sensors on the scalp to measure brainwave activity, providing real-time visual or audio feedback (like video games or movies) to teach individuals self-regulation, helping them develop healthier brainwave patterns to improve focus, emotional regulation, and cognitive function for conditions like ADHD, anxiety, and insomnia. This course is designed to give an overview of Neurofeedback and how it can be used to support and supplement counseling and mental health therapy.
Objectives
1. Participants will be able to describe the fundamental principles of neurofeedback, including basic brainwave activity, and the role of operant conditioning in self-regulation.
2. Participants will be able to describe the basic electrophysiological basis for EEG/GEEG
3. Participants will be able to identify clinical indications, common referral concerns, and ethical considerations related to the use of neurofeedback with mental health populations
4. Participants will be able to explain the structure of a typical neurofeedback session and how neurofeedback may be integrated into an existing psychotherapy treatment plan.
