Found Object Toolbox

For the beginning clay artist, purchasing ceramics tools can be expensive and confusing, but it does not have to be! DAC Resident Artist Jamie Lerman will demonstrate multiple methods of using found objects as tools for ceramic hand-building. Participants will explore building and surface design processes using items like food utensils, sticks, plastic cups, cookie cutters, leaves, and small toys. Demystify common barriers to the craft, build confidence, and take home a piece built using commonly found objects. All participants will complete one piece to take home.

This is a free workshop, and registration is required. Space is limited. Participants must be 18+ to register.

About The Artist: Jamie Lerman is an artist, ceramicist, and facilitator based in Austin, Texas. She earned her BFA at Pratt Institute for Fine Arts in 2020 studying printmaking and ceramics. Her work is a romancing of adaptation, transformation, and sentimentalism that leads to sculpture, pottery, mosaics, and dinner parties. She also operates Double Cradle, a pottery project designed to celebrate the sentimental; a creation of objects that we can't help but hold with both hands.
