This ceremony is an important tradition within Civil Air Patrol, symbolizing continuity of leadership, recognition of service, and renewed commitment to our mission. Your presence would mean a great deal as we honor the accomplishments of the past four years and welcome our new commander.
During his four-year tenure as Squadron Commander, Capt. Roman Vitanza led the Fort Worth Phoenix Composite Squadron through a period of exceptional growth, innovation, and mission success. Under his leadership, the squadron expanded its membership, strengthened its operational readiness, and elevated its presence within the Texas Wing and the local community. He championed a revitalized Public Affairs program, fostered a culture of mentorship, and significantly advanced the squadron’s Emergency Services capability by developing strong training pipelines, increasing mission qualifications, and improving readiness for real-world operations. Capt. Vitanza also made aerospace education a core priority, supporting hands-on STEM initiatives, sUAS capabilities, and high-quality instruction that deepened cadet engagement and strengthened the squadron’s commitment to aviation and space sciences.
As he assumes command, 1st Lt. Joshua Bouldin brings a strong commitment to leadership, service, and mission excellence to the Fort Worth Phoenix Composite Squadron. Throughout his service in Civil Air Patrol, 1st Lt. Bouldin has demonstrated a clear focus on operational readiness, member development, and teamwork. His experience and dedication within Emergency Services reflect a practical, mission-oriented approach to training, qualification, and preparedness, ensuring the squadron remains ready to respond effectively when called upon.
In addition to his involvement in Emergency Services, 1st Lt. Bouldin has demonstrated a deep commitment to the development of cadets and senior members alike. He understands the importance of a strong, engaging Cadet Program and its lasting impact on leadership development, character building, and aerospace education. As Squadron Commander, he is committed to fostering a positive, disciplined, and inclusive environment where cadets are challenged to grow, lead, and succeed, while senior members are empowered to mentor and support them.
1st Lt. Bouldin is well-positioned to build upon the strong foundation established over the past four years, sustaining excellence across Civil Air Patrol’s three programs while guiding the Fort Worth Phoenix Composite Squadron into its next chapter with professionalism, integrity, and purpose.
Uniform of the day will be an approved CAP uniform for members and business casual for non-CAP members.
