Forest to Poet/Tree Walk

Unique to the Victoria Festival of Authors, the much-loved Forest to Poet/Tree Walk returns as a live event this year. Come to Mary Lake Nature Sanctuary in the Highlands for an engaging walk along Millstream Creek, the lakeshore, and through fir and arbutus forest. This will be an immersive sensory experience where the poets’ words meet and celebrate the natural world. Led by Yvonne Blomer and Beth Kope, poets Joseph Dandurand, Justene Dion-Glowa, Tolu Oloruntoba, and Anne-Marie Turza will inspire you with their poems read amidst the West Coast landscape.

Please be aware that this event is a forest walk: bring enthusiasm along with appropriate shoes and be prepared for the weather! And be aware that distractions from flickers, heron, mink, or beaver may occur as we walk with these poets through the forest.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1.) Unfortunately, the in-person version of this event is not appropriate for those with mobility concerns, as audience members will be walking on forest trails.

2.) Please come prepared for all weather. This event is not weather-dependent.

3.) Late-comers will not be admitted.

4.) Captioning is available through a link on your personal phone/ tablet device.

5.) There will be no tickets available at the door. Ticket sales will end the day before the event.

6.) There is no livestream option for this event, but it will be recorded. You can ask to be notified when the recording is live.
