Join our group for a Forest Therapy walk at this lovely park in Ellwood City. The nature trail descends from the Riverside Drive Trailhead, across from pavilion #7, where we will meet. Parking is available just before and after the trailhead.
The path is bordered by the Connoquenessing Creek on one side and large boulder cliffs on the other. It provides scenic views that include large trees, ferns, and many other plants as well as opportunities to see lots of birds and other small animals. As we make our way along the path, we will pause at different locations where you will be invited to quietly engage in each of your senses to connect with nature. This deeply personal experience will be unique for everyone. After each invitation you will have an opportunity, if you choose, to share your thoughts with the group. Our walk will close with a Tea Ceremony to show our gratitude for all the positive health benefits we receive from nature and reflect on our journey to wellness.
Participants should wear comfortable layers to prepare for the expected weather. Sturdy shoes are recommended. The trail varies between blacktop, dirt, and gravel paths with possible muddy spots and a sloped elevation on each end. I would rate this as moderate physical activity. A refillable water bottle is suggested.
I will provide sit-upons for our sensory invitations, if you choose to sit. You are welcome to bring a lightweight camp chair or stool should you need one. An outdoor bathroom facility is available at this location.
*Registration is required with advance payment to reserve your spot. Space is limited to 12 participants. Walk-ups can not be accommodated.
