Forces in Action_5-Day July STEM Holiday Program (Y1-Y3)
About this Event
Give your child an exciting holiday learning experience where science and maths come to life through hands-on activities, creative challenges, robotics, coding and drone exploration.
Our 5-Day STEM Holiday Program is designed for young learners who love to build, test, explore and solve problems. Across the week, students will investigate how forces work in the real world through fun experiments, creative projects and technology-based missions.
Instead of learning science and maths only from worksheets, children will explore key concepts through rockets, robots, drones, coding games, data challenges and team-based missions. Each day is designed to help students build confidence, curiosity, creativity and problem-solving skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
Program Theme: Forces in Action
This program introduces students to the idea that forces are all around us. Children will explore how objects move, stop, turn, fly and react through simple, age-appropriate activities.
Students will investigate concepts such as:
- Push and pull forces
- Gravity and motion
- Direction and distance
- Speed, movement and turning
- Measurement and simple data collection
- Shapes, patterns and creative design
- Basic coding logic and robotics control
- Drone movement and safe piloting
The program connects science and maths with real-world applications, helping children understand that STEM is not just something we study — it is something we use every day.
5-Day Program Overview
Day 1: Rocket & Rescue Mission
Build and test straw rockets, explore drag force, measure distance, and design a rescue path using creative materials and Sphero robots.
Day 2: Push, Pull & Robot Challenge
Discover how forces move objects through push, pull and rotation activities.
Day 3: Force, Mass & Data Mission
Explore how force, mass and movement work together. Students will plan robot tasks, collect data and build creative data towers.
Day 4: Reaction Forces & Drone Flight
Learn about action and reaction through scavenger hunts, binary coding, pixel art and drone path planning.
Day 5: STEM Showcase & Maths Quest
The final day brings the week’s learning together through a STEM showcase, fun maths challenges and creative activities.
Each activity is designed to be practical, fun and meaningful. Students will be encouraged to ask questions, test ideas, make improvements and share their thinking with others.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the program, students will have had opportunities to:
- Understand basic science ideas related to forces and movement
- Use measurement, number skills, shapes and patterns in practical activities
- Explore how science and maths can be applied in real-world situations
- Develop early coding and robotics thinking
- Practise safe and guided drone piloting
- Build confidence in problem-solving and creative design
- Work with others in small-group STEM challenges
- Test ideas, make improvements and reflect on their learning
This program supports students to learn through doing. Children are encouraged to experiment, make mistakes, try again and celebrate their progress throughout the week.
Who Is This Program For?
This program is suitable for Year 1 to Year 3 students who are curious, creative and interested in hands-on learning.
