Event Overview:
On Tuesday, April 7th, join Morningstar Mercredi and Karen Stote for a conversation about forced and coerced sterilization at Station 20 West in Saskatoon from 4-7 pm. Their books The Genocide Continues and Sacred Bundles Unborn, 2nd Ed will be available for purchase. Supper will be provided and there will be a quiet room available for those who need a break from the group conversation.

Author Bios:
Morningstar Mercredi is of the Wolf Clan, a member of ACFN K’ai Taile Dene in Treaty 8 Territory. She is an accomplished author, poet, artist, researcher, social activist, producer, actress, and filmmaker. She is the author of Morningstar: A Warrior’s Spirit, and Fort Chipewyan Homecoming and editor with Fire Keepers of both editions of Sacred Bundles Unborn. Her voice work was featured in “The Unforgotten,” a five-part film exploring anti-Indigenous racism in the health care system in Canada. Morningstar is an outspoken advocate for the criminalization of the forced and coerced sterilization of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis.
Karen Stote is associate professor in women and gender studies at Wilfrid Laurier University. She teaches on Indigenous-settler history, feminism and the politics of decolonization, and issues of reproductive and environmental justice. She is author of The Genocide Continues: Population Control and the Sterilization of Indigenous Women and Act of Genocide: Colonialism and the Sterilization of Aboriginal Women.
