FORBIDDEN CHAPTERS
A Let Freedom Read Day Celebration
On October 10th, the doors of Book Coven are opening to the public for one special evening celebrating something worth protecting…
the freedom to read.
From 7–9 PM, grab a book, find a cozy corner of the Coven, and spend two gloriously quiet hours reading whatever the hell you want.
Bring a banned or challenged book, choose something from our shelves, or join us with our featured read:
THE POET EMPRESS by Shen Tao
And here’s the twist…
The Poet Empress isn’t a banned book.
It’s a book about a woman who isn’t allowed to read in general .
She’s forbidden to read.
She’s forbidden to write.
She does both anyway.
For Let Freedom Read Day, we couldn’t think of a more fitting story to celebrate the power of literacy, access to books, and the freedom to choose what we read.
Bring your book. Find your chair. Get comfortable.
READ FREELY 💜
Admission is completely FREE.
Instead of charging admission, we’re encouraging anyone who is able to make a donation to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, helping put books directly into the hands of young readers. Donations are encouraged, never required.
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC — RSVP REQUIRED
Book Coven is a small, cozy space, so seating for this event is limited.
Message us on facebook to reserve your seat.
18+ only -Book Coven may be a space for grown-up readers, but we believe the love of reading starts long before adulthood therefore we’re encouraging donations to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, helping children build their own libraries from the very beginning.
