BIO:
Carolina Vargas, candidate au doctorat, a passé la moitié de sa vie impliquée dans l'escrime sportive. Vargas a connu du succès aux niveaux régional et national. Parmi ses récompenses, elle a obtenu le bronze par équipes représentant la Colombie au Championnat d'Amérique centrale et des Caraïbes en 2022. Mme Vargas s'est entraînée à Bogotá pendant de nombreuses années, mais a participé tout au long de sa carrière à plusieurs ateliers internationaux. En 2023, elle s'est installée au Québec pour poursuivre ses études et a continué à s'entraîner au Club d'escrime Montmorency (M.E.C). À la fin de la saison 2023/2024, Vargas est devenue la championne senior de fleuret féminin du Québec, occupant la première place au classement provincial et la 24e place au classement national. Sa carrière pédagogique a débuté dans son club natal à Bogota, où elle était monitrice et assistante-entraîneuse pour les escrimeurs débutants et intermédiaires, une tâche qu'elle apprécie et qu'elle continue d'exercer dans son club actuel à Laval. Caroila Vargas a également été arbitre régionale et nationale en Colombie et arbitre internationale au Championnat sud-américain junior en 2022. Actuellement, elle est arbitre provinciale certifiée pour le fleuret et l'épée. Sa technique et son endurance mettront à l'épreuve les capacités physiques des élèves et enseigneront le jeu de jambes à la Destreza Nova Laval.
ENG BIO:
Carolina Vargas, ph candidate, spent half of her life involved in sport fencing. Vargas achieved success at regional and national levels. Among her awards, she achieved bronze by teams representing Colombia in the Central American and Caribbean Championship in 2022. Ms Vargas trained in Bogotá for many years but attended along her career to several international workshops. In 2023 she moved to Quebec in pursue of her studies and kept training at the Montmorency Fencing Club (M.E.C). By the end of the 2023/2024 season, Vargas became the senior women's foil champion from Quebec, holding the #1 position in the provincial ranking and #24 in the national ranking. Her pedagogical carreer started in her native club in Bogota, in which she was a monitor and assistant coach for beginner and intermediate fencers, a task that she enjoys and still does at her current club in Laval. Caroila Vargas also served as a regional and national referee in Colombia and as an international referee at the South American Junior Championship in 2022. Currently, she is a certified provincial referee for foil and epee. Her technique and stamina will put the physical skills of the students to a test and will be teaching footwork at the Destreza Nova Laval.
