Hosted by the Musculoskeletal Special Interest Group (MSK SIG) of the Australian Podiatry Association (APodA)
This one-day event offers a comprehensive exploration of lower leg tendon conditions. Designed for podiatrists seeking to deepen their clinical expertise, the program covers the full spectrum of assessment, diagnosis, and management strategies.
Participants will then delve into clinical diagnosis, learning how to gather and interpret subjective and objective information, identify mechanisms of injury, and differentiate between various tendon pathologies and associated conditions.
Imaging interpretation will be discussed, with guidance on when and why to refer for ultrasound or MRI, particularly in cases of diagnostic uncertainty or suspected rupture.
The event also explores the biomechanics of foot function and its role in tendon overload, offering practical approaches to gait assessment and clinical testing. Attendees will gain insights into effective footwear and orthoses prescriptions to support recovery and prevent recurrence.
Rehabilitation principles will be a key focus, including progressive loading strategies, pain monitoring, and return-to-activity planning. Adjunct treatments such as shockwave therapy, injections, referrals to medical professionals and the role of collaboration with other allied health professionals and specialists will be reviewed, along with strategies for managing challenging cases and communicating effectively with patients.
The day concludes with a collaborative discussion of complex cases, providing an opportunity for shared learning and clinical reflection before a great networking opportunity with likeminded podiatrists.
Spaces are limited to 120 participants—book early to secure your place!
