About this Event
Rising food costs and increasing economic pressure are making it more difficult for individuals and families to access sufficient, nutritious food. Across our city, churches are responding—continuing a long tradition of caring for those most in need.
Jesus’ call to care for the vulnerable continues to shape this work:
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat…” (Matthew 25:35–36)
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many churches stepped into new forms of food provision. Organizations like Union Gospel Mission supported these efforts, helping resource local initiatives providing meals and groceries to those experiencing isolation and food insecurity.
This gathering creates space to reconnect, learn from one another, and explore how churches can respond faithfully in this moment.
At this gathering, you will:
- Meet others providing food in our city
- Learn how to access an abundance of free and surplus food
- Explore best practices that foster dignity for those we serve
- Engage in dialogue around a theological vision for a city where all have enough
Who should attend?
- Church leaders currently involved in food programs
- Churches interested in starting food initiatives
- Ministry leaders seeking to respond to food insecurity in their neighbourhoods
