About this Event
When you were a child, did your parents have dishes that they only brought out for holidays and special occasions? Do you have a favorite mug you use every morning to start your day off right? These food rituals establish meaningful connections with the everyday objects we use routinely.
You are invited to create objects for a food ritual that is meaningful to you, either real or imagined; the objects you create can be functional, symbolic or both (this workshop investigates the overlap). We will reflect on the role that objects play in our lives, our memories, celebrations, and our sense of time.
This workshop will include instruction for hand building techniques that will suit each project/idea. The first three sessions will be dedicated to building our ideas, the fourth will be for glazing, and we will schedule a potluck to share the snacks, beverages and practices we find meaningful and nourishing.
