Discover the microbes behind healthy soil & build a smart herb planter with a microbial boost to take home!
About this Event

This workshop uncovers the hidden work of microorganisms in food growth and health, from nitrogen-fixing bacteria to fungi and plant-growth-promoting bacteria, and explains how to tell beneficial microbes apart from harmful ones.

Participants will explore microbiota’s role in soil health and restoration, and learn how self-watering planters support root absorption.

Hands-on, everyone will build their own mini self-watering herb planter using fresh herbs or vegetables, boosted with modified microbial components suited to the local climate’s soil.

By the end, participants will understand the ecology behind food growth and natural food cycles, and take home a working mini planter, boosted to help their herbs grow better.
