Food is War / Food is Peace
About this Event
To celebrate the launch of Issue 09: Food is War / Food is Peace, Serviette is gathering at Haifa Room for an evening of food and wine.
This issue’s theme isn’t a light one, and we didn’t take it lightly either. You’ll meet Ukrainian soldiers eating gas station hot dogs on their way to the frontlines, Palestinian farmers and artists conserving traditional seeds amid Israeli invasion, and Minneapolis residents rebuilding their community and restaurants after ICE’s violent passage.
However, this issue is anything but bleak. Putting it together reminded us of food’s enduring hopefulness. Along with hardships, the stories mentioned above are full of life-affirming connections: the same clerks greeting soldiers with positivity and an ice cream cone before and after battle, an energized worldwide network preserving plants with future-facing optimism, and the Nobel Committee rewarding the solidarity of Minneapolitans with a Peace Prize nomination.
Here’s what we’re cooking up for the night:
- Wine Hour with (6–7PM): Join us for a guided tasting of two red vintages from this renowned Lebanese winemaker. This part of the event is limited to 24 tickets, get yours fast! These tickets include wine and snacks.
- Launch Party (7-10PM): Celebrate the magic of print! Snacks are included with your ticket, served as a Middle Eastern feast. Drinks will be available for purchase from Haifa Room, including wines from Château Musar.
