About this Event
Financial tracing is one of the most powerful tools in forensic accounting and fraud investigations and often one of the least discussed topics in the profession. This session will break down how to trace funds across accounts, entities and transactions to uncover what truly happened.
By using real case examples presented through multiple interactive case studies from criminal, civil and bankruptcy matters, you will understand how different tracing methods work, when to use them, and how to build a clear and defensible narrative for counsel and the court. By attending this session, you will walk away with practical strategies that can be immediately applied to your investigations.
This workshop is a 75-minute event and will be offered in person only, as the case studies rely on physical training materials that are not available digitally.
Learning Objectives
- Define financial tracing and distinguish it from asset tracing in the context of criminal, civil and bankruptcy matters.
- Identify and describe key tracing methodologies, including forward tracing, reverse tracing, cash expenditures, and more.
- Select an appropriate tracing method based on case objectives, available records and jurisdictional expectations.
