Use reclaimed images, maps, text, and fabric to imagine the relationships, rituals, and ways of living worth carrying forward.
About this Event

The future is not only something that happens to us. It is something we practice, imagine, repair, and build together.

In Folk Futures, participants will work with reclaimed magazines, maps, photographs, damaged books, fabric, handwritten text, packaging, and found imagery to create a collage centered on the world they want to help shape.

Rather than focusing only on possessions or individual achievement, participants will consider the relationships, rituals, skills, environments, community spaces, and forms of care they want to carry into the future.

A folk future might include shared tools, repaired homes, community gardens, collective meals, ecological restoration, intergenerational knowledge, public gathering spaces, more rest, or new traditions.

This is more than a conventional vision-board workshop. It is an invitation to imagine how we want to live, relate, contribute, and care.

Participants will explore
  • Reclaimed-material collage
  • Personal and collective imagination
  • Values-based future building
  • Relationships between past, present, and future
  • Visual storytelling and composition

Participants will leave with
  • One completed folk-future collage
  • A personal future-practice card
  • A set of questions for turning imagination into action

No previous collage experience is required. Primary materials are included.
