Marta Mateus’s Fogo do Vento (2024) comes to the big screen in Stockholm.
The vines have borne fruit, and it is time for the harvest. Soraia, a young woman, cuts herself, her blood mingling with the wine. A black bull follows her trail.
Through evocative landscapes, ancient trees and shared memories, the film weaves together nature, community and human struggle in a poetic and sensory journey through a land shaped by time and change.
Winner of several international awards, including the FIPRESCI Prize at the Gijón International Film Festival and the Best Director award at the Caminhos do Cinema Português festival, Fogo do Vento offers a distinctive vision of contemporary Portuguese cinema. It was also named one of the 20 best films released in 2025 by The New Yorker.
Date: 4 November 2026
Duration: 90 minutes
Language: Portuguese with English subtitles
