FoCo WCS Fridays with Galen Chen

Galen has been dancing west coast swing since 2014, and teaching since 2015 when he helped found the BU WCS Club with Elena. Since then he's taught at Northeastern University and MIT's swing dance clubs, and most recently runs a weekly night in New York City. His teaching style emphasizes clear ways to identify when their leading, or following, is breaking down, and how to fix it. To develop this style, Galen studied extensively with top professionals and identified common ideas that they all believed in. Galen has also studied teaching with coaches Kyle Redd and Sarah Vann Drake, and obtained his GPDIA teacher certification from PJ Turner and Tashina Beckman-King. At his night in New York, Galen has implemented continued education where instructors, including himself, attend seminars on the science of learning and teaching.
