Looking for a fun twist on Valentine’s Day? Join the Florida Native Plant Society, Palm Beach County Chapter, for a botanical treasure hunt at Frenchman’s Forest Natural Area! We’ll be searching for 14 native species of Tillandsia (air plants!) that call Florida home—plus other incredible epiphytes that grow on trees and plants.
As we explore, we’ll connect what we see to why Florida’s native plants are so special—from our incredible biodiversity and unique ecosystems to the critical role native plants play in supporting wildlife and preserving the natural character of South Florida. Learning to recognize native plants in the wild is one of the most powerful tools we have for conservation.
Whether you’re brand new to native plants or a seasoned plant lover, this is a relaxed, welcoming way to explore one of Palm Beach County’s most beautiful natural areas, ask questions, and learn alongside fellow wildlife champions. No experience needed!
Our field trip will be led by Jess Flynn, a new member of our Board of Directors. This Valentine’s Day is extra special for Jess, who is quite literally creating life while helping us celebrate and protect Florida’s native plants. Come share the love—for nature, native plants, and new beginnings!
