Fnishers' Celebration
About this Event
Fnishers' Celebration
Seventy years ago, five Montgomery women took bus segregation to federal court, and won. Browder v. Gayle reached Montgomery on December 20, 1956, and at 5:55 the next morning, the city’s buses rode integrated for the first time.
Join us as we finish the story.
Finishers’ Celebration: Sunday, December 20, 2026, 2:00 PM, Frank M. Johnson Jr. U.S. Courthouse Complex. Reception to follow at the Rosa Parks Museum. (Rosa Parks Museum for both if inclement weather.)
Inaugural Ride Observance: Monday, December 21, 2026, 5:55 AM, Jackson and Centennial (formerly Key) Streets. Seventy years to the minute.
Together we’ll honor The Fourteenth Five™, also known as The Seat Changers™, and the everyday people, businesses and organizations who helped finish what Montgomery started in 1901.
All are welcome. Save your seat.Come celebrate our finishers in person!
