Rules:
1. No 100% scratch build or 3D printed entries. Submissions must be based on a model kit. Heavy modifications and scratch building is acceptable but the submission must be based on or contain parts of a plastic model.
2. Model must be Mecha related. No entries of real world cars, ships, tanks etc. will be eligible for a prize. Subject of the submission must be related to Japanese Mecha and mecha Anime. Non-Gundam mecha anime and material is acceptable. Frame Arms Girls, Kotobukiya, 70's classic mecha anime are all acceptable. If you're unsure if your model is acceptable please email [email protected] to have the entry clarified.
3. All submissions must be made by the entrant. No remote entries and no commissioned builds. Team entries of 2 or more builders are allowed in the case of a Father/son and mother/daughter duo - however prizing will remain the same as a single entrant if a prize is won.
4. All entrants must be present at Flynn's Arcade in Margate on July 3rd for the announcement of the winner. An entrance ticket to the cosplay event on July 3rd must be purchased for entry into the event and participation in the contest. You must be physically present to be eligible for a prize. If you cannot be present you will not be considered for an award.
5. Submission should be appropriate for all audiences. If you have to ask if your entry is appropriate - it probably isn't! If you're unsure if your model is acceptable please email [email protected] to have the entry clarified.
6. No submission that has previously won an award at any modeling event is allowed.
7. Older builds that you have never competed with are eligible for entry.
Awards
5th Place - Best New Builder - This award is specifically for someone's first model. A special focus on younger people or those only just starting to show interest in the hobby.
4th Place - Best Straitbuild - This award highlights the best straight build model. Basic details like panel lines and basic customization can be added. The best representation of an out-of-box model.
3rd Place - Best Paint Job - An award for the best paint job. This can be a default scheme or an inspired custom scheme. Cleanliness and technique of the paint job will be highlighted.
2nd Place - Best Custom Model - An award that highlights creativity. This model can incorporate kit bashing, customized or scratch built parts and other things like dioramas or lights.
1st place - Best in Show! - This award goes to the model that best highlights all the previous categories. Having excellent paint, custom work and attention to detail.
Judging Criteria:
Cleanliness - How clean is your build? Are seam lines and nubs hidden? Is your paint job free of debris and imperfections?
Concept - How well actualized is your original concept in this kit? What story does your kit tell? Does your model have a place in the story? What was your goal with this model and how well did you achieve it?
Customization- Does your model have a custom paint scheme? Maybe weapons or parts from another kit have been incorporated. How far did you go to make this kit 'yours'?
Presence - Is your model a showstopper. How is it presented? Does it have a stand or maybe it's in a diorama.
