About this Event

Flying Scotsman, 'the world’s most famous steam locomotive’ celebrates its centenary this year,

And on Sunday April 30th it is coming to Bristol.

To mark both events The Friends of Clifton Centre & Library, (FoCCaL), are hosting three illustrated talks

by film maker, David Parker

As Dr Beeching’s axe fell on Britain's steam locomotives and many of the branch lines on which they had chugged, some enthusiasts rescued what they could. This film uses some of the delightful home movies that recorded their achievements in the Severn Valley and the Yorkshire Dales to tell their remarkable story and how a feature film (The Railway Children) transformed their work.
