Fly-tying Forum: Saltwater Patterns
June 25
Join us for the June Fly-tying Forum as we explore saltwater fly patterns designed to imitate two of the most important food sources in coastal waters: shrimp and crabs. During this hands-on session, participants will learn to tie the Supreme Hair Shrimp and the Flexo Crab, two productive patterns for targeting inshore species such as red drum, speckled trout, flounder, and other saltwater game fish.
Participants will learn how to select and work with saltwater fly-tying materials, build realistic profiles, add movement, improve durability, and understand how these patterns are fished in coastal environments. Instructors will walk tiers through each step, offering guidance on tying techniques, material placement, proportion, and finishing methods.
Benefits of attending:
Participants will leave with a better understanding of saltwater fly design, increased confidence at the vise, and two proven patterns they can add to their fly box. This forum is also a great opportunity to learn from experienced tiers, ask questions, share ideas, and connect with others who enjoy fly-fishing and fly-tying.
Basic fly-tying experience is recommended. All materials and equipment will be provided.
