Women in Glass collaborative group installation presented by She Hangs LA at Raven's Gallery in Echo Park, Los Angeles Opening September 19.
About this Event

LOS ANGELES, CAShe Hangs LA is an independent woman & disability-owned art curation and installation business in Los Angeles. From September 19th through October 20th, She Hangs LA and LA UP will present the collaborative glass artwork installation at Raven’s Gallery in Echo Park with an exhibition titled FLUIDITY, curated by Colette von and GG Lodge, with special assistance from Crystal June.
FLUIDITY speaks to the necessary demand on women to act as fluid beings in all aspects of experiences, including social, mental, physical, and emotional scenarios. FLUIDITY looks at community support and collective action through the female lens, and embodies the likeness of a monsoon - “one droplet of rain can go unnoticed, but united in a monsoon, our collective impact is undeniable.” - Colette von.
Over the last 4 months, the work included in the show was collectively created by more than 60 artists ranging from emerging to late-career individual artists. FLUIDITY will showcase the work of local Southern California-based artists, as well as many national and international artists. A special UV activated section will be on display, showcasing unique works that highlight a playful nature to the exhibition.
Content includes the work of Arianthé Condon, local Los Angeles Historic Monument artist Tory DiPietro [Light at the End of the Tunnel - Heart of Los Angeles], Momoko Schafer of Netflix’s Blown Away, Israel-based artist Mari Dov, Suuze Rateliff, Kristina Sasser, and other definitive female artists in the glass industry. The works featured in FLUIDITY were created under the guidance of advisor and Exhibition Director Colette von, Owner & Art Director for She Hangs LA, with special curatorial assistance by Crystal June. The exhibition installation will be completed by Colette von and Design & Fabrication Specialist, GG Lodge.
Within the exhibition space, a special presentation entitled DROPLETS will also be on-view. This portion of show is a direct response and call to create from local artists, with a major focus on young artists under the age of 22. Work created in the FLUIDITY Youth Workshop (to be held September 12th from 5:30-8:30p) will be highlighted within the gallery, made through artist’s experiences of the installation, conversations, and original prompt given to the glass artists. DROPLETS is curated by Maebellene Burge and Alizah Delgado with guidance by Colette von.
She Hangs LA is community oriented, and is committed to showcasing marginalized artists. Founded in 2020, SHL (in conjunction with LA UP) has featured work from more than 10,000 artists worldwide in local exhibitions, art fairs, pop-ups, digital shows, established businesses, storefronts, and experimental venues and locations across Los Angeles.
