On Thursday, February 27th, FlowState 5Rhythms will be taught by special guest Nico Allen, fresh from his phenomenal New York 5Rhythms class, Bodywerk.Our class is an invitation to encounter and transcend the self by dancing the rhythms of Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness - essential patterns and energy forms that provide their own medicine and teachings, all accessible through your spontaneous expression in motion.
Created by Gabrielle Roth and practiced by tens of thousands worldwide, 5Rhythms® is a philosophy, perspective, performance art and a dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion it will heal itself. Movement is both the medicine and the metaphor, reaching across all languages, cultures and age groups to transform suffering into art, art into awareness, and awareness into action. Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support, and to provide a safe space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-walking, rock star part of ourselves that yearns to be free. Creativity. Connection. Community.
All are welcome. Bring water and wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move. Please no fragrances, scented detergents, or dryer wipes, due to sensitivities and allergies.

We aim to dance each Thursday night at SomArt at the Hive in Somerville - sometimes our regular venue is busy with rehearsals for dance performances, in which case we dance at an alternative venue on the Thursday, or at SomArt at the Hive on Friday or Saturday.
