Your registration fee covers optional The Talk and The Walk.
The Talk: Join Karen for an engaging session on identifying the flowers of Edmonton’s natural flora and their role in recognizing plants. Discover how certain blooms signal the arrival of spring mushrooms, including early morels, true morels, and false morels. Karen will also provide insights into safe and sustainable foraging practices, equipping you with the knowledge to explore nature responsibly.
The Walk: Following the talk, you’re invited to accompany Karen on a foraging excursion to a carefully chosen location about 90 minutes from downtown Edmonton. Bring a lunch, a small sharp knife, and a wicker basket for collecting your finds. Be sure to dress warmly in layers, wear sturdy boots, and pack a raincoat, as the walk will proceed rain or shine (but not in heavy downpours). This mid-to-late May adventure offers the perfect opportunity to find morels in their prime.
