About this Event

Flowering in Crochet

Join the Flowering in Crochet workshop and earn the basics of crochet by making a flower. Walk home with a handmade accessory: hair tie, or clip, a magnet, a pair of earrings or a keychain. This workshop is a beginner friendly workshop, no previous experience is required.

TIMES: 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM PST and 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM PST

LENGTH: 1.5 hours

LOCATION: Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your workshop time to allow time to check-in. The check-in tent is located on the east side of Strathcona Park.

AGES: Adults (ages 16 and up), Suitable for beginners and up!

PRICE: $35 per person per workshop

ACCESSIBILITY: The event site is on grass, gravel, and uneven terrain, there is no ramp access to the park. The open-air work setting will have ambient noise, conversational sound levels, and loud areas with the noise of food truck generators. There's a wheelchair-accessible portable washroom on site. We will communicate verbally with members of the public using listening and spoken language in English. Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs.


About the Artist

Gladys Carmina is a fibre artist based in Vancouver. She finds in crochet and flowers a bridge to Mexico where Rosita, her grandma taught her how to crochet at the age of 12. Gladys’ aim to find a crafty community in her new home lead her to host workshops and gatherings to connect with other yarn lovers. In her blog Happiness is Handmade, Gladys shares her creative process and the joy of making. Recently Gladys started a YouTube channel where she shares tutorials of her crochet patterns.


~~~ In addition to participating in this workshop, your ticket grants you access to our General Admission Create! Art Zone at Strathcona Park on July 27th from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The Art Zone features multiple drop-in public art activities, access to the Festival Art Shop, a beer garden, food trucks, and live music presented in partnership with Light Organ Records & 604 Records. To enter the Art Zone, simply show your workshop ticket.~~~~

If you would like to cancel your attendance, we will offer you a refund, provided that you inform us at least 4 days prior to the scheduled event.
